In network and reimbursements
Residency Visa compatible health insurance plans usually provide cover in network or offer the network plus reimbursement. In network means, you can only utilize the policy under the medical network associated to the insurer, therefore it’s essential that you check the network in your planned area for residence.
These policies apart from being able to utilise the associated clinics you can also use the clinics of your choice, outside network in Spain and worldwide. However, you usually have to pay for the medical bill upfront and submit the invoice to the claims department for the reimbursement. It usually takes around 10 days for the funds to get back to your account.
Spanish residency visa requirements
Visa and residency requirements in Spain involve a certificate issued by the insurer confirming the covers, 12 months private medical insurance cover from the moment you are coming to Spain and with a minimum 30.000€ of coverage. Policies also must include repatriation in the case of death to the country of origin. Platinum healthcare provides Spanish health insurance for expats that fulfils these visa requirements.
Direct billing:
Platinum Healthcare policies do not require an excess nor do they operate a co-payment policy, means that you will only need to present your medical card, no payment is required to be given at clinics etc.
From the moment you fill in the application, this process is online completely, we require 1 to 3 working days to set the contract up and send you the certificate. If you have no bank account within the SEPA region we accept payments by card for the full year, if the Visa / residency is denied we can cancel and reimburse easily.
